Our secured self park lot (available most nights; call for information) is located at 19th and Throop. It opens at 5pm and is $15 cash only while space lasts. 18th street offers meter parking, while Racine does not require permits or meters. Free street parking is also available along the train tracks on 16th street between Ashland and Racine. As always, please respect our neighbors.

Unless otherwise noted as 17 or 21 plus, shows at Thalia Hall are All Ages. A minor can attend any show as long as accompanied by a legal guardian.
Heck yes. The Empty Bottle and SPACE team have been presenting all-ages shows at various outlets for many years. We have a full security staff both inside and outside the building as well as patrolling our parking lots for all hours of operation. Ultimately the decision to let your son or daughter come to a show here is up to you as a parent. We encourage attending a show with your child so you can get a first-hand experience of how we take care of our patrons. We’re confident that once you’ve seen our operation you’ll feel comfortable about allowing your child to attend incredible shows at Thalia Hall.
An ID is required if you plan on drinking alcohol. In compliance with Illinois state laws anyone 21 and older who plans on drinking alcohol will have to show a valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID, even if you look as old as a dinosaur. Anyone without proper ID, regardless of age, will be treated as under 21 and not allowed to buy, hold or drink alcohol. Anyone in violation of these laws will be immediately ejected from the venue.
Unless a show is advertised as seated, our shows are general admission and standing room only on the main floor. Balcony tickets are always seated and that will be noted as a separate ticket purchase option. A very small number of bar stools are available on a first-come, first-serve basis under the balcony. Patrons with special needs should call in advance to make arrangements, we are happy to accommodate.
The original 1892 design of Thalia Hall included 4 private opera boxes on either side of the theater’s proscenium stage. The opera boxes offer a unique and memorable experience for groups of up to 6 guests, and we’re making them available for select shows. The price includes admission for up to 6 guests. All guests must be respectful of opera box rules, and once guests have checked in the box passes are non-transferable. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Shows that offer a General Admission Seated Floor ticket will have seats for all ticket buyers. Those seats will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis when doors open for that evening’s performance. Guests should plan to arrive early to get the best seats, or to ensure that a large party is all seated together. Ticket holders that arrive after the performance has begun will be seated at the discretion of the house manager.
Our venue is ADA compliant, both the main floor and balcony are handicapped accessible and we are happy to accommodate you. Our door staff will be able to help with elevator use if necessary and help you find the best spot based on your ticket.
The time listed on your ticket and on the purchase page of the website is the show start time. Doors typically open an hour before show time and door time is listed in the ticketweb event link. Please keep in mind that set times, as well as opening acts, are always subject to change without notice.
We like to think that there is not a bad spot in the house at Thalia Hall, but if you’re one of those folks who needs to be right up front we suggest you be in line when doors are opened. Keep in mind that no matter how early you line up, you might not be the first person there, and you are not guaranteed any particular spots inside. You can also head to Dusek’s/Punch House before the show – they are open before doors where you can enjoy food and drink specials. As always, when lining up outside, please respect our neighbors. Anyone causing damage to property, littering, loitering, or breaking any law will be removed from the premises and not allowed entry to the show.
Try our downstairs neighborhood restaurant Dusek’s Board and Beer which offers a complete dinner menu as well as a late night menu for after the show. Please note that food may not be brought up into Thalia Hall and so it is recommended that you sit down for dinner an hour and a half before you plan on heading up to the show. Occasionally we have our Chicago style hot dog cart open inside the venue for you to enjoy during a show.
We have 2 full bars as well as satellite bars located within Thalia Hall offering a diverse selection of both draft and bottled beers along with your favorite spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, and of course hand-crafted punch courtesy of Punch House. NO OUTSIDE DRINKS ARE ALLOWED into the venue, but you are welcome to bring in drinks from Dusek’s and Punch House.
We require that you wear clothes and shoes. Personal items that could be considered dangerous or contraband will not be allowed in the building. Purses and bags will be searched prior to entry, no exceptions.
Nope, sorry. Illinois has an indoor smoking ban. However, most nights we will allow re-entry.
Thalia Hall doesn’t issue press passes or photo passes. All press inquires should be directed to the band’s publicist, label or management. Unfortunately, we are not authorized to give out that information.
Recording policies are at the bands discretion and change night to night. Signage will be posted in the venue for each show regarding any restrictions. You may bring your camera though be advised you might need to check it for the duration of the show.
