Code of Conduct

 

Thalia Hall and our staff believe in providing a welcoming and harassment-free environment for people of all races, ethnicities, ages, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, abilities or disabilities, physical appearances, and religious beliefs. We believe in having a publicly available set of guidelines as a necessary part of building this environment. We are aware of our implicit biases and will do our best to correct them. If a staff member has misgendered you, please correct us.

 

PATRONS, STAFF, PROMOTERS & PERFORMERS AGREE TO

Be considerate in speech and actions, and actively seek to respect the boundaries and identities of others.
Respect the right of other guests and staff to enjoy this environment without unwelcome attention from strangers.
Refrain from demeaning or discriminatory behavior. Sexual harassment and violations of personal space will not be tolerated.

 

UNACCEPTABLE CONDUCT INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO

Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or unwanted photography. Unwelcome sexual or discriminatory comments, jokes, or attention. All unwanted touch including moshing, pushing, or groping. Demeaning, disrespectful, racist, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or other hateful language. Smoking of any kind within the building. Sustained or willful disruption of events. Over intoxication.

 

HOW TO REPORT SOMETHING

If someone has harassed you, treated you inappropriately, discriminated against you, or if you witness this behavior, please alert a staff member in person, or email safety@thaliahallchicago.com so that we can take appropriate action.

 

WHAT WE’LL DO

We will do everything in our power to help keep you safe. If any person engages in harassing behavior, we will work with and support victims. We may take any lawful action we deem appropriate, including but not limited to warning the offender, asking the offender to leave our premises, physically removing the offender, or contacting local resources or authorities.

Our bartenders and house staff have the absolute authority to refuse service to any guests exhibiting unsafe, disorderly or drunken behavior. If alcohol or suspected drug use is physically impairing patrons we may ask

them to leave the premises. We always allow guests an opportunity to leave with dignity, in instances that do not directly jeopardize safety. We will do everything in our power to ensure guests have access to adequate hydration, a safe way home and medical intervention if deemed necessary.

 

PLEASE TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER

Our community is a caring one. Alert one of our staff members if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or violations of this code of conduct, even if they seem inconsequential. We strive to keep each other safe.
