$26 / $36 / $100

WBEZ’s Podcast Passport in partnership with BuzzFeed presents the award winning podcast Another Round as the next event in the Podcast Passport series!

Another Round is co-hosted by Tracy Clayton and Heben Nigatu and features interviews with buzzworthy guests and “spirited” conversations on topics ranging from race, gender and pop culture to squirrels, mangoes, and jokes.

On June 21st, Tracy and Heben will raise a glass – or three – with special guests, songwriter and vocalist Jamila Woods and sociologist Eve Ewing. The Chicago-inspired show will kick off with a performance from Kuumba Lynx, Chicago’s very own youth hip hop arts program!

Another Round has a distinctly youthful and culturally-savvy sound, which captures and speaks directly to a wide audience. Join them for a round as Tracy and Heben make their Chicago debut at Thalia Hall on June 21st.

About the Guests:

Poet and vocalist Jamila Woods was raised in Chicago. Her musical style is primarily soul/hip-hop – influenced by Erykah Badu, Imogen Heap, Kirk Franklin, and Kendrick Lamar. Her musical aesthetic involves choral layering in addition to the hip-hop tradition of sampling & allusions.

Eve Ewing is a sociologist of education whose research is focused on racism, social inequality, and urban policy, and the impact of these forces on American public schools and the lives of young people. For ten years, Eve has been an educator in both traditional and community-based settings, including Chicago Public Schools, After School Matters, Harvard University, and Wellesley College. Eve was born and raised in the Logan Square community of Chicago and is a proud alumna of Chicago Public Schools.

Kuumba Lynx is an urban arts youth development organization founded in 1996. For two decades, alongside many of Chicago’s artists, activists, educators, and youth communities, KL has honed an arts-making practice that presents, preserves, and promotes Hip Hop as a tool to reimagine and demonstrate a more just world. KL’s Program Facilitators are a collective of artists, activists, educators, and healers.
